How To Make Soap At Home

 Ingredients:

500 grams of base oil (olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, etc.)

70 grams of caustic soda (sodium hydroxide)

150 ml of water

Optional: colouring or essential oils (such as lavender, mint, orange)

Equipment

Thermometer

Stainless steel cookware

Wooden spoon

Moulds (silicone moulds are preferable)

Gloves and goggles (for safety when working with caustic soda)

Towel

Steps

Take safety precautions: Wear gloves and goggles, contact with caustic soda can damage your skin.

Heat the pot: Heat your stainless steel pot and add 500 grams of base oil. Allow the oil to melt completely and bring the temperature to approximately 50-60°C.

Prepare a caustic soda solution: In another container, add caustic soda (70 grams) to the water, carefully adding 150 ml of water. Be careful with this step, this mixture will react and heat up. Pour the mixture into the saucepan.

Stir the mixture: Stir the oil and caustic soda mixture well with a wooden spoon. When well mixed, the consistency of the mixture will thicken and take on a slightly dull colour.

Add optional ingredients: If you want to add colour or fragrance to your soap, you can add essential oils or colourants at this stage. You can use about 20-30 drops of essential oils or colourants.

Pour into moulds: Pour the mixture into the moulds you have prepared. Silicone moulds are preferred because it is easier to remove the soap. Smooth the top of your soap neatly.

Wait for the soap to freeze: Allow about 24-48 hours for the soap mixture to completely freeze in the moulds. The freezing time may vary depending on the density of the soap and environmental conditions.

Remove and cut the soap: Once your soap is completely frozen, remove it from the moulds and cut it into the desired sizes. You can use a knife or cutting wires for cutting.

Ripen: Leave your soap to mature for at least 4-6 weeks. During this time, the soap will harden and be ready for use.

Now you can start using your homemade soap. You can create your own recipe by playing with different oils, colourings and essential oils to improve your soap making experience.
